Dodge Challenger was revived for the third time in its history when GM’s division decided to reintroduce it back in 2008. This third generation Challenger is a pony car in and out, but its performance model 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat is something more than that. It is one of, if not the most powerful and fastest muscle car ever produced.
2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Engine range
Hellcat offers the biggest powertrain of all Challenger models and has huge 6.2L supercharged V8 engine under its hood. This beast puts up 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque which are more than impeccable numbers. 8-speed automatic transmission might not be a best choice, but that’s what we’ll get, for now. With all above specifications, SRT Hellcat can achieve a 200 mph top speed and goes from zero to sixty in around 3.5 seconds. It also has quarter mile time of 11.2 seconds which is faster than any of its competitors can go.
Design – Interior and Exterior
At first glance, SRT Hellcat model of Challenger doesn’t seem different than the rest of the lineup, However, it has hood scoop and different wheel arches in order to accomodate 20-inch aluminum wheels. Double circular headlights and thin, long rounded tail-lights straight from the seventees are what make this pony car a clear representative of its class. However, driver’s side parking lamp was removed in order for air to get in and do its magic. This way, SRT Challenger only has one functional headlight on both sides, but brings more horspower and torque to bear.
Inside, Hellcat offers refined, but track-oriented interior. Nappa leather/alcantara trimmed seats come in red-black, gold-black and all-black, and so does entire cabin. Dash has a roundy shape, natural for roadsters, and instrument panel is tilted toward the driver. It is also uninterupted and connected to the gauge cluster, and comes with a touch screen display without which no car can do nowadays. Three-spoke steering wheel is bigger than those that sport cars usually get and has SRT written in the middle of it. Shifter is conveniently positioned in the front of the center stack, with couple of cupholders and armrest behind it.
Fuel consumption will be high, there’s no doubt about it, but it could be better than many expected at first. Thanks to the great aerodynamics, Hellcat will take you up to 20 mpg on the highway.
2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Price
Price had been disclosed recently and Dodge plans to cash in $59,995 for every model they sell.
2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is a car that pays homage to pony class in best possible way. Its enormous power could put it in a class of its own, but interior refinement reminds us that this is still a massively produced car.
