Review your engines for the new 2015 Honda Civic. The new Civic Type R will be available for production in late 2014 or early 2015. It promises to hold the spirit of a race car that you can drive on the road. This performance hatchback will be available only in Europe. Honda does not have plans for American sales at this time.
Styling – new look
The sporty new look features sleek curves that hug the road. Angular headlights wrap around the front fenders above oversized intakes. Flared arches over the 20-inch wheels give a dramatic flair and improve performance. The rear is dominated by a large spoiler and quad exhausts. Every detail of the body design is intended to improve performance. No one will mistake this two-door coupe for a boring family car.
Features and Performance
Drivers who are looking for superior performance will look forward to the new Civic Type R. Its turbo charged 2.0 L, four cylinder engine will produce at least 280 horsepower under the hood. Some rumors increase the potential horsepower up to 320. Early testing of the concept model shows that drivers can expect to go from 0 – 62 miles per hour in around six seconds.
The front wheel drive promises quick and responsive handling. Honda also expects to improve the chassis for even better handling.
Honda has tested the new Civic Type R at the famous Nurburgring track in Germany. Honda aims for high performance with this new model. It has benchmarked the Type R against the Mercedes A45 AMG. Even though it has not broken any records yet, the powerful Civic Type R has several records in sight, including the front wheel drive lap record.
Along with the improved performance comes even better fuel consumption. The Type R averages up to 40 miles per gallon for the concept model. If the production model stays anywhere close to this, it is well above the previous Civic Si Coupe model that averages 31 miles per gallon.

The 2015 Honda Civic Type R will be built in England, where Honda hopes for strong sales. The anticipated price expects to be around 30,000 pounds.
Even though the Type R will not be available in the United States, some of the updates and improvements may find their way onto other Honda models such as the next-generation CR-V.
