2015 Kia Cadenza K7 Hybrid – Power and Specs

The 2015 Kia Cadenza K7 Hybrid will be somewhat of a light facelift of the old model rather than an all new car. So far, Kia shown us a car with redesigned front end and an improved electric drivetrain. We expect it to come somewhere in the mid of 2015 at a base price of around 36.000$ (so not too far of the old model). The car still is a full size executive model, so it will have all the luxuries you would want.

The Powertrain

As we said before, this model has a hybrid drivetrain. The main engine is a 2.4 liter petrol engine with 4 cylinders. This unit will develop by its own, around 150 horsepower and just as much torque. The electric motor on the other hand is able to produce around 38 kW and thanks to a battery pack, it is capable of driving just on electricity for around 20 miles. The combined total power of the car is almost 190 horsepower and a pretty solid 220 lb-ft of torque.

Transmission and fuel consumption

The only transmission available for this model is the 6 speed automatic unit that is coupled to the front wheels. It is decently smooth and quite responsive, but lacks any kind of actual feed-back. Thanks to this transmission and the electric motor, the car will return an average of 37 MPG. This means it will be able to give you around 30 MPG in the city, which is not that bad considering the size of this car.

The previous model was quite well equipped, but this is even better. It features as standard dual zone climate control with humidity control, ventilated and heated electric leather seats as well as leather upholstery, a pretty good audio system and satellite navigation with an eight inch screen. As optional extras you will be able to choose an Infinity audio system with 10 speakers and subwoofer, a sunroof and massage seats. All of these will come at a price though. For the fully equipped model, you will need too pay an extra of 10.000$.

It isn’t much different of that of the old car. There is still the same basic shape with a few minor improvements for aerodynamics and looks. The headlights now have Xenon running lights with LED daytime lights while the tail lights come with LED as standard. The stock wheels are 18 inches and are equipped with tires made specifically for fuel consumption. For a bit extra, you will be able to get 19 inch wheels with Pirelli PZero.
