The Discovery has been around for almost 25 years, so it had enough time to become one of the best well sorted cars in the World. The 2015 Land Rover Discovery 5 will make no exception and it will continue to be a very good car for the price. This new model will be based on an all new chassis that is both lighter and more rigid than before.
The engine choice is still good and the interior and exterior will be on par with the rest of the range. The car is expected to hit the market somewhere around the start of 2015 and will come at a base price of just over 60.000$.
The Engine and Performance
There isn’t much information on what engines will be available on the new car but we except the supercharged V6 petrol engine to be carried over while the top of the range 5 liter supercharged V8 to be slightly improved. On the diesel side, there will be a 3 liter V6 twin turbo engine that will develop around 250 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque and, most likely, a 2.2 diesel inline 4 unit that will be able to pump out around 170 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque.
Transmission and drivetrain
There will be just a single 8 speed automatic unit that will send power to the all wheel drive system that has both lockable differentials on the front and rear axle and a terrain response system that will easily handle all the surfaces you can imagine. The fuel consumption is quite poor for all the petrol engines while the diesels will get a much better fuel efficiency and also, more towing power.
2015 Land Rover Discovery 5 Interior and Exterior
The car’s interior is quite upmarket when comparing it to the old model. As standard, there is leather upholstery, ventilated front and middle seats as well as an automatic climate control. Also as standard you get a 8 inch navigation system that also controls the car’s audio system. As an optional extra, there is a premium Harman Kardon system with a subwoofer, a triple zone navigation system than can be controlled from the entire car and a moon-roof that is big enough to cover all of the three rows of seats.
The 2015 Land Rover Discovery 5 will be based on the Vision concept, so it will be more similar in design with the Evoque rather than the old Range Rover. It will have as standard LED running lights as well as new tail lights with an improved overall look.
