The 2015 Mini Cooper Paceman is a mini SUV built by Magna Steyr, in Austria, for Mini. It is one of the few 3 door SUVs on the market, today. The car impresses thorough its striking retro looks, the great quality retro interior and the decent off-road capabilities of the four wheel drive model. Also, the car has one of the smallest fuel consumption in its class, thanks to the big range of engines available.
The Engine range
Let’s talk about what powers this little monster. For the base model, we have an 1.6 liter aspirated petrol engine that is good for up to 120 horsepower and 118 lb-ft of torque. For a bit more money you can get the Cooper S version that comes with a 1.6 liter turbocharged engine that will give you 184 horsepower and as much as 192 lb-ft of torque via an over-boost function. There will also be a John Cooper Works version that has around 220 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque.
There are also 2 diesel engines, one 1.6 liter BMW unit and a 2 liter unit, both of them being available with either an automatic or manual transmission, either with front wheel drive or four wheel drive. You can get the automatic transmission for all the engines, but it is best with the 1.6 liter 122 horsepower petrol because it is a great little car in the city.
Styling – Inside and Outside look
The exterior of the car hasn’t received too many changes over the previous model. You now get a wider selection of colors and that’s about it. The headlamps and tail-lights will remain unchanged as well as the general shape of the car.
This situation is similar on the interior as well. Sure, even if it is a Mini, is still has BMW quality on the interior. The seats are nice and firm and offer great lateral support without being uncomfortable, the dashboard has a nice retro aura to it and will make you happy no matter what. In the center console you can get a 7 inch screen inside the retro speedometer as well as dual zone climate control.
2015 Mini Cooper Paceman Fuel Economy
Fuel consumption is great, especially with the diesel engines. The smallest 1.6 liter gasoline engine will return in excess of 28 MPG in the city and around 34 MPG on the highway for the automatic transmission while the manual one will get you over 40 MPG on the highway and around 31 MPG in the city. The diesel engine will get around 45 MPG on the highway and at least 38 MPG in the city, being a great companion for long trips. Price is expected to start at around 24 thousand dollars for the base 1.6 liter model.
