2015 Nissan Maxima – Concept and Review

The 2015 Nissan Maxima will be a major redesign to the old model. Nissan introduced in January at the Detroit Motor Show a new concept, called Nissan Sport Sedan Concept, with striking looks similar to those of the Nissan’s own GTR. The boss of Nissan said that the new Maxima will very similar in design to that concept.

The Engine and Performance

The engines in the new Maxima are unknown at this time, but considering the fact that it is supposed to be a more sportier car than before, we can expect some changes in this department. More than likely, the car will come as standard with the 3.5 liter V6 engine, with 290 horsepower, also found on the previous Maxima, that will be couple to a CVT gearbox for decent performance and fuel economy.

There will probably be a more powerful engine, probably the one found on the current Nissan 370Z, the 3.7 liter V6 with around 340 horsepower. This engine will most likely be coupled to a 7 speed automatic transmission, for a sportier feel. There is a big chance that the new car will be rear wheel driven.

Fuel consumption is expected to improved a little, thanks to the redesign of the body and the improvement of its drag coefficient. We can expect numbers of around 19 MPG in the city for the base engine and around 27 MPG on the highway. Numbers on the other engine are unknown at this time, but it will probably be similar to those on the 370Z.

Styling – Exterior and Interior

The exterior of the car has a striking new shape. It now gets new headlamps and tail lights, a more slimmer shape, the car now resembling a coupe rather than limousine. You will not get as standard LED lights and a general shape similar to that of the Jaguar XF.

The interior of the car will make better use of materials, leather will come as standard as well as aluminium trimmings. The seats offer better lateral support in the front and are more comfortable than before, while in the back, the passengers will get individual 7 inch screens, arm-rest and adaptive head-rest. The sound system will most likely be of superior quality, and it will be made by Bose.

2015 Nissan Maxima Performance

Performance will be good, if not excellent for a car like this. Thanks to its engines and the fact that Nissan wants a more sportier car, you can expect around 5.3 seconds to 60 MPH in the base model and around 4.7 seconds for the more powerful car. Also, top speed will most likely be limited to 155 MPH for the both engines!
