As far as luxury cars are concerned, Porsche is among their market rulers. 2015 Porsche Cayenne is not just another mid-size luxury crossover, it is a brand which carries a lot of expectations with it. That’s why German manufacturer decided to change it drastically from the outside for 2015.
Styling – Interior and Exterior
Most changes are evident up front as new 2015 Porsche Cayenne now has rectangular grille and revised headlights and bumper. At the rear, picture looks the same as new lights and new bumper also found their place there. However, Cayenne still offers the same shape which resembles other, sportier cars from Porsche’s lineup.
Cayenne’s interior didn’t go through as many changes as its exterior did, and still offers Alcantara leather seating upholstery, metallic, wood and carbon fiber surfaces in dash and door panels. Only change is steering wheel which was incorporated from 918 Spyder model. Color options depend on a model and you’ll either get them in black or dark beige. Four vertical airvents cut the dash in three parts, smallest of which is the instrument panel in the middle. It holds a 7-inch touch screen which offers many infotainment-related features. Every serious crossover offers rear seat entertainment, and so Cayenne has twin 7-inch screens and a DVD player on Burmeister or Bose surround sound systems. All models offer standard set of airbags, all standard stability controls, rearview camera and ABS with brake assist. Optional packages add adaptive cruise control, hill descent control, lane change assist and speed-set control which round up impressive safety features list.
2015 Porsche Cayenne Under the Hood
Four models can be chosen in the US as only S Diesel model didn’t find its place here. Cayenne Diesel, Cayenne S, Cayenne S E-Hybrid and Cayenne Turbo, did however, and all of them come with different powertrain. Diesel model has 3.0L turbodiesel V6 engine which has 240 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, while hybrid model has 3.0L supercharged V6 engine with 333 hp, which combined with 95 hp electric motor, offers 416 hp of net hybrid output. Petrol engines can be found in S and Turbo models and they are offered as a 3.6L twin turbo V6 which yields 420 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, and 4.8L twin turbo V8 engine giving 520 hp and 533 lb-ft of torque respectively. Only base models are still offered with a 6-speed manual transmission, while other versions come with 8-speed automatic Tiptronic shifter.
Still the biggest downsize of Cayenne are its mediocre (to say the least) fuel economy ratings. 18 to 19 mpg combined are the best numbers which you’ll get with Turbo and base models respectively. Hibrid models raise the bar to 22 mpg combined, while lineup leader, diesel model returns 24 mpg combined and makes hybrid kind of redundant.
2015 Porsche Cayenne Release date and Price
The fact that Diesel model is also the least expensive makes it even more desirable. It costs around $62,000, S and S E-Hybrid cost around $75,000, while Turbo raises the costs significantly to $114,000.
2015 Porsche Cayenne doesn’t need introductions, it is well-known luxury crossover whose only real weak side is its low fuel efficiency, but those who can afford it can certainly visit gas stations whenever they want without looking into their wallet.
