The Subaru STI has always been a great rally car for the public roads. Its powerful engine mated to the wonderful chassis meant that the car was faster than pretty much anything on the public roads. The new 2015 Subaru WRX STI promises to improve that experience by offering the same great engine in an improved chassis and with a better interior than ever before.
This new car will come at a price of around 33.000$ for the base car (that still includes pretty much all the options you want) and it will be available starting with August this year.
The Engine range
As we said before, the car will come with the same engine that was on the previous car. It is a turbocharged flat-four 2.5 liter unit that is capable of putting out as much as 305 horsepower and around 315 lb-ft of torque. The power delivery differs from the usual small turbocharged engines because it isn’t as smooth. It is rather explosive, because up to around 3500 rpm nothing really happens. Once you cross that line, you will get a kick of power that will make the car give a Ferrari a run for its money.
Transmission and drivetrain
Just as on the previous generation, it comes as standard with a four wheel drive system that is mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. This combination and the fact that the car comes with limited slip differentials and torque vectoring gives the driver the best possible driving experience because it will basically stick to the driving surface. Fuel consumption is poor. It is able to return around 17 MPG in the city and as much as 23 MPG on the highway. If you drive it like it’s meant to, then these numbers will go as low as 9 MPG.
The chassis on the 2015 Subaru WRX STI is now better suited to track use. It has a better type of shock absorbers and a stiffer all around chassis. Because of this and the new and improved terrain response system, you will be able to drive it more aggressive both on the tarmac and off it.
2015 Subaru WRX STI Exterior and Interior
The exterior got a much desired face-lift. The car now has rounder edges as well as new headlights and tail lights that also feature LED technology. The front grille has been changed as well as the entire body kit and the rear spoiler. These improvements give the car a more grown up and aggressive look than before.
The interior on the other hand hasn’t changed much. It still offers you all the commodities that you want with a bit of extras such as dual zone climate control and a better satellite navigation.
