The 2015 Toyota Sequoia has started selling in the United States in 2001. Throughout its life, the car used a 4.7 liter V8. The 2015 model will feature a VVTi 5.7 liter V8 with at least 400 horsepower. The interior will get a total redesign while the exterior will be a bit more suited to this type of car.
Under the Hood and Features
Let’s start with the engine. The 2015 Sequoia, as we said before, will get the brand new 5.7 liter V8 unit that is said to have around 400 horsepower and at least 400 lb-ft of torque. This will assure a towing capacity of a least 6500 pounds, which is adequate for people who want to haul their boat! On the entry model, the 4.7 liter engine will probably be ditched in favor of a more fuel efficient 4 liter V6 with 270 horsepower (also found on the 2015 Toyota Tundra).
The transmission will most likely be a 6 speed automatic unit that will drive all wheels via a transfer box and locking differentials. This will allow the Sequoia to go off-road with ease while most other SUVs won’t be able to. (most of the European models)
Fuel economy will be decent. The base 4 liter V6 engine will probably get with ease around 24 MPG on the highway and around 17 MPG in the city while the top of the range V8 will get around 20 MPG on the highway, thanks to the great transmission and as little as 14 MPG in the city.
Design – Inside and Outside look
The exterior will get a slight redesign. The car will be a bit bigger to accommodate its passengers in a bigger cabin. The car’s front mask will look a lot like that found on the Toyota Tundra and the rear will get new tail lights as well as a restyled bumper.
The interior will probably be the biggest improvement in the Sequoia. You will now get as standard, heated and electric seats, 8 inch satellite navigation with a BluRay player and a good quality sound system with a subwoofer. For the base unit, expect to pay around 28 thousand dollars. For a bit more money you will be able to get ventilated leather seats, leather steering wheel and aluminium trim. Also, you will be able to get 3 rows of seats on all models. The only one with an advantage will be the Limited, on which the 3rd row of seats can be split 60/40.
2015 Toyota Sequoia Price and Verdict
The top of the range model will cost around 50 thousand dollars.
In conclusion, the Toyota Sequoia will basically be a refresh of the old model with a new engine in its entry level model, better interior equipment as well as more suitable materials for such a car.
