The current model of the M6 has been released back in 2012 and since then only a few things changed about it. However, BMW planned to release a mid-cycle update of the car with the 2016 BMW M6 which even though it won’t change all that much about the car, it will actually be a nice refresh which is going to include mostly interior upgrades and changes with a few minor styling changes as well.
New Styling – Inside and Outside look
Just like before, the new model of the M6 is going to be available both in Coupe and Cabriolet form which means it will still be one of the better choices out there.
On the outside of the car BMW didn’t change almost a single thing and the things they changed are quite subtle. This may be considered a bad thing but if you look at their latest 5 series which looks incredibly close to a E class Mercedes than you start appreciating the looks of the M6 with its big air intake and the aggressive yet subtle look. The back has the same quad exhaust system as before but at the front there is a new pair of LED headlights which are brighter than before and feature an auto-dimming system which gives you the most amount of visibility at night without disturbing other drivers.
The interior of the 2016 BMW M6 is going to look exactly as that in the previous model. There have only been changes to the functionality of the infotainment system and also the controls of the gearbox which now offer more feedback even though they’re electric. The satellite navigation system now includes a GoPro control system which lets the driver connect a camera and control it from the on-board infotainment unit. On top of that there is also an App for smart-phones which acts as a remote control for the unit which is something unique among all of its competitors.
2016 BMW M6 Engine options
The monster under is still a 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged old-school V8, so the 2016 BMW M6 can still be considered somewhat of a bully when compared to the newer generation of cars. The engine is quite rough in a good way and it will be able to provide up to 560 horsepower and more than 500 lb-ft of torque in its base form. Thanks to a 7 speed dual-clutch gearbox, it will be able to sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in less than 4 seconds and up to a limited top speed of 155 MPH. The M package will further increase that to 190 MPH!
A competition package will most likely come at a latter date, increasing the power of the engine to more than 600 horsepower and allowing the big M6 to get from 0 to 60 MPH in as low as 3.5 seconds. The top speed is unknown at this point but it might break the 200 MPH barrier and become the fastest luxury coupe on the market!

Price and Release date
The new model is going to debut sometime in 2015, most likely at the end of the year if we consider BMW’s schedule. Just like before, the car is going to be available in a basic package, in which it will cost 112.000 dollars and a high performance package known as the Competition model. This time though the price will be almost 130.000 dollars.
Even though it seems like a massive amount of money it is actually cheaper than all of its competitors which is no easy thing to do for a BMW. This is because BMW wanted to keep the car in line with the rest of their models unlike Mercedes which is selling the SL63 for nearly twice the money of the M6.
