Pony car enthusiasts are already counting the days before Mustang introduces first Shelby model of the current, sixth generation. Still, 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 won’t arrive before next year models start with their sales, and that won’t happen before autumn. However, given all the info we have gathered, it will be well worth the wait.
The Engine range – power and performance
New Shelby will be powered by 5.2L V8 engine capable of delivering some pretty high figures. Specifications aren’t disclosed yet, but this kind of a car won’t be offered with less than 500 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. This flat-plane crank, normally aspirated engine is actually the strongest unit of this type Ford had ever made.
There’s another thing which might matter a lot to die-hard Shelby fans. Shelby actually doesn’t have anything to do with this model as it is assembled by Ford’s SVT group. Blue oval has kept the naming rights and they are using them. This, however, probably won’t matter in the long run as most of potential buyers don’t really care about monikers as much as they care about actual performance. As far as acceleration, this edition reaches 60 mph for less than 4 seconds. Also, max speed is around 185 mph.

Design – Inside and Outside look
2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 is still a Mustang in all its glory, but it does look slightly different than conventional lineup of iconic pony cars. First of all, it has reinforced hood with scoop upon it, and it executes slightly sturdier front end fascia as well. Moreover, silver pony has missed the opportunity to present itself upon Shelby’s grille, but stripe paint job didn’t. Shelby’s rear end is more in tune with back side of its conventional siblings, and only offers a lip spoiler and different exhaust pipes as difference.
New Shelby won’t differ too much from its siblings in terms of interior design and refinement. It will sit someplace atop the line and will thus come with Recaro cloth/miko suede sport seats and, otherwise standard cabin layout. Suede steering wheel is slightly different than it is the case with regular models, but sporty dash with circular airvents remains the same.
Feature list should be on par with current range topping models and this means that 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 will be offered with standard 8-inch touch screen display with MyFord infotainment system. Moreover, it will have all standard connectivity options and should incorporate Sony sound system as well. Safety feature list should be similar to that in GT Premium trim levels and advanced safety will mostly come from electronic systems.
2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Price and Release date
It is evident that Shelby GT350 will be the black sheep of the family when fuel efficiency is concerned, but how bad it is going to be; we don’t know. Expect its price tag to say something like $50,000 which is a long way from current top model’s $36,000. The key rivals are: Chevrolet Mustang Z/28 and Dodge Challenger.
2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 comes at a right time. One year has passed and next-gen Mustangs have settled in nicely. People now need something new, and there’s nothing better that blue oval has to offer than the iconic Shelby with superb performance and the look which should appeal more to adventurous types than to conventional pony car lovers.
