Jaguar’s first SUV crossover has finally been presented in Frankfurt. Sleek, elegant ute will combine its design with premium luxuriousness on the inside. Even though 2016 Jaguar F-Pace is British manufacturers’ first foray into the SUV market, F-Pace looks like a well-designed car, and what’s more important, it feels like one as well.
Under the Hood
U.S. market will start off with couple of gasoline engines. Base option will be 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, while stronger one is 3.0L supercharged V-6 engine making 375 horsepower. At the same time, European and other overseas markets will benefit from the inclusion of diesel engines. Smaller 2.0L turbo diesel four should manage around 180 horses, while 3.0L diesel V-6 will be capable of delivering 300 horsepower.
If you’re not a fan of all-wheel drive for some reason, you’ll have to go with the smaller diesel option. Every other powertrain is tied to all-wheel drive configuration. At the same time, smaller diesel option is tied to 6-speed automatic transmission, while all other engines offer ZF 8-speed automatic units.
Design – Inside and Outside
There’s nothing to counter the fact that F-Pace is a Jaguar, even though it’s an SUV. People not informed about this might wonder for a moment, what badge offers this car, but once they take a look at 2016 Jaguar F-Pace’s front fascia with open-mouth grille and contemporary thin headlamps, they’ll know that it’s a Jag. Car’s profile is as sleek as the rest of the car, and features plenty of chromed elements.
Finally, F-Pace’s behind gets a stylish tailgate with both a Jaguar badge and lettering which clearly states who makes this SUV. Other than that, it gets modern, thin tail-lights and dual exhaust pipes which mostly depend on a chosen powertrain.
2016 Jaguar F-Pace looks as good on the inside as it does on the outside. Needless to say, all materials are of highest quality and range from full to sueded leather, and from aluminum to wood if inlays are concerned. Dashboard too, is covered in leather, and features good-looking lines all over. Instrument panel is simply dominated by the large 10.2-inch touch screen display and all the accompanying features that go with it. Even middle tunnel is rather wide and leaves the impression of being the cockpit divider.
Apart from the large touch screen display, 2016 Jaguar F-Pace offers plenty of other high-tech options. Among them are no less than four USB ports, Wi-Fi hotspot, HDMI connection, premium sound system, and many more.
Jaguar’s first SUV is dubbed as the most advanced car in British maker’s portfolio, technology-wise. That’s why it also features very advanced safety equipment. Apart from the must-have features like ABS, brake assist, airbags and stability control, 2016 Jaguar F-Pace offers autonomous emergency braking system with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot monitors and adaptive cruise control.
2016 Jaguar F-Pace Price and MPG
Fuel economy ratings with diesel models look great too. Smaller engine returns 57 British mpg combined in European NEDC cycle, while stronger option manages 47 mpg combined. Petrol units will be rated lower than that, especially when EPA gets the hold of them. Prices in the U.K will start from just over £34,000, while S performance models with all gear are supposed to start from £51,450. Prices in the state are likely to start from just above $40,000, while top grades should reach a price tag of more than $60,000.
2016 Jaguar F-Pace is about to become one of the most tech-savvy SUV’s in the market, and it will manage that with all the luxury which Jag traditionally offers. Four prolific powertrains across the global markets are about to further elevate its appeal, and visual component is absolutely stunning.
