The new 2017 Chevrolet Zora ZR1 is coming. Zora Arkus Duntov was one of the best engineers the Corvette team had ever seen, and apart from making extremely fast cars, his name has become a symbol for a new car that epitomizes everything he strived for in life – the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Zora ZR1. Aside from a name and a legacy it carries, the new car is going to belong to the eighth generation.
This means the chassis from the previous generation has to be modified and outfitted with a supercharged V-8. The new Zora ZR1 will have a huge number of HPs and a price tag to match. This is going to be a beast.
Refined & Sporty Design – Inside and Outside look
On the outside, the 2017 Chevrolet Zora ZR1 is expected to incorporate elements of the seventh generation of cars. Building a mid-engine car is risky enough without getting eccentric with the external layout. The entire cabin seems slightly lower and closer to the front end of the car, which was lowered itself for better visibility, and a more aerodynamic form.
The cooling ducts and a wider track made it look more aggressive and also helped with the performance. The rear bumper has been made with aggressiveness in mind, coupled with a massive diffuser and a quad exhaust featuring separate units drawing attention away from the twin mini spoilers.
The inside of the 2017 Zora should be more luxurious, considering the price tag and the liberty of the designers. We can expect tons of finest leather and carbon fiber. There should be several large LCD screens and LED lighting for infotainment needs and your driving pleasure. The seats and the steering wheel should be brought to a standard of their own, resembling that of a much more expensive Italian and German cars.
Engine & performance
It would seem that 650 hp of the Z06 was not enough for this bad boy. The 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Zora ZR1 is going to feature a lot more power under the hood, enough to impress the old Zora himself. The Z06 engine has been upgraded and now features a whooping 740 hp and 700 lb-ft of torque! This was apparently the most power this car can take at this point – after that, traction becomes an issue.
A hybrid model is being considered. As for transmission, we are looking at a 7-speed manual or 8-speed automatic, most likely. With this much power, Zora should reach 60 mph in under 2.8 seconds and max out at 220 mph. All that on a relatively modest fuel efficiency.
2017 Chevrolet Zora ZR1 Release Date
No expense was spared on this super car and the price shows it. This one is for the books, so the engineers have been given a blank check, which will have to be covered by people willing and able to dish out $150,000 for a brand new car, which is still way below most of its competition.
We don’t know exactly when the car is going to appear, although we should see it by late 2017/early 2018.
The biggest competitors are Ferrari 458, Porsche 911 Turbo, Jaguar, Lamborghini and Mercedes-AMG.
