The Japanese carmaker will introduce a new crossover, larger than ever, the new 2017 Honda CR-V. The Honda CR-V is one of the best selling crossovers for a reason. However, the current model has been around ever since 2011 so a new model has been planned for quite some time now. The car did receive an update last year which included a few visual updates as well as a new engine. The Honda CR-V 2017 on the other hand is expected to be an all new car which is said to be using the same platform as the upcoming Civic. This could mean that the car will shed around 200 pounds or more and it could become one of the best driving compact crossovers on the market.
This all new car will not only come with a new platform but it is also expected that it will get new engines, a new exterior as well as a new design for its interior and the equipment level inside the cabin might be quite a bit better than before. Many also suggested that the next generation CR-V would make use of three rows of seats so it would make quite a nice competitor for the Santa Fa.
2017 Honda CR-V New Design
The exterior will grow in size but the funky looks will remain. This is quite good for Honda and for its customers because it will make people know what car it is. The front end will receive a styling inspired by that of the 2017 Civic Type R while at the back the usual boxy design is going to be replaced by a curvier look which will also make room for more luggage and for the extra set of seats. Despite of camouflage, spy photo shows that the rear door is dramatically longer than previous model.
In the front the top of the range model could get fully LED lit headlights while at the back the 2017 Honda CR-V might even get a modular tailgate which would be extremely helpful considering its purpose.
One of the biggest improvements is number of seats, as you can to imagine, the new 2017 Honda CR-V will be in standard offer with 7 seats. The cabin will also be slightly larger in order to accommodate the extra two people and their luggage. On top of that, there are going to be more safety features as well as more commodities such as standard triple zone automatic climate control, a 7 inch screen with a rear view camera as well as a leather wrapped steering wheel.
The predictions about engine
Engine wise, the current 2.4 liter naturally aspirated inline 4 is likely going to be carried over to the 2017 Honda CR-V with little to no modifications made to it. It will provide 185 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque which is not all that impressive. However, thanks to the weight loss and the revised CVT gearbox, the CR-V could get as much as 30 MPG on average which would be better than pretty much all of its competitors. This will not remain the only available engine though. Many suggested that the CR-V will get the same 2 liter turbocharged engine from the European Type-R Civic.
In this case, the car will likely come with all wheel drive as standard as well as with a different CVT gearbox which will be able to handle the extra power and torque. The fuel consumption will likely go down to around 25 MPG on average which is still impressive considering the car will be able to provide as much as 300 horsepower and more than 280 lb-ft of torque.

The exactly release date is currently unknown but we do expect the car to become available for the market some time in the middle of 2017 when it could come on the market for a price no higher than $25,000 which is a bit higher than the average of its class but not that high that it would not be a great car for the money.
