Street and Racing Team is slowly, but steadily taking a number of GM’s nameplates under its own wing. After Chrysler 300, and Dodges Viper, Challenger and Charger, one of Jeep’s own nameplates has been scheduled for a rework. 2017 Jeep SRT Hellcat Trackhawk position has been reserved for world’s most rewarded SUV ever; Grand Cherokee.
Under the Hood
Jeep has named their new, immense performers Trackhawk and Trailhawk. Names speak for themselves, and while former represents the ultimate street performer, latter has been designed in order to take on the dirt roads. This next part is just a formality, but it still has to be written; doesn’t it? 2017 Jeep SRT Hellcat gets the same engine in both iterations of new Grand Cherokee, and that is 6.2L supercharged Hellcat V-8 mill which is capable of producing 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque.
While these numbers are for Hellcat Challenger, Grand Cherokee’s should be able to replicate similar figures. Of course, both Trailhawk and Trackhawk will be fitted with mandatory all-wheel drive.

Design – Inside and Outside look
As far as their design is concerned, Trailhawk and Trackhawk are basically top-grade Grand Cherokee’s which still manage to exhibit their differences. Off-road oriented Trailhawk Grand Cherokee gets blacked out grille and lower bumper with off-road ready skid plate. It also gets blacked out headlamps and a bump in the hood which features an air intake. Wheel arches are bolstered with rubber and plastic so that excess road material doesn’t damage your profile. Trackhawk, on the other hand, has more conventional and lower bumper with trapezoidal air intake.
It too features a hood intake, but not that bumpy as its off-road cousin. Track orientation can be felt by looking at SUV’s wheels which are unique 5-spoke units under regular fenders, this time. Rest of 2016 Jeep SRT Hellcat Grand Cherokee’s is more or less the same.
Just as they differ from the outside, it can safely be expected that 2017 Jeep SRT Hellcat versions will differ on the inside as well. Trackhawk is fitted with a number of plush options when it comes to cabin materials. Alcantara and clean leather seats, dashboard and door panel leather covers, and carbon fiber with metallic accents are what makes it special. Off-road Trailhawk gets more rugged materials which are easier to maintain, but still quite refined. Faux leather and a little bit of rubber and aluminum does the trick in distinguishing these couple models as separate cars.
As far as SRT Hellcat Grand Cherokee lineup’s feature list is concerned, it will likely be on par with current range-topping models. This makes 8.4-inch touch screen display and navigation standard, while 19 Harman Kardon premium speakers and rear seat Blu-Ray entertainment system are optional.
Both of the models will excel in safety equipment as well. After you exclude mandatory equipment and a rearview camera which is about to become mandatory, 2017 Jeep SRT Hellcat Grand Cherokee’s offer adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alerts, forward collision warning, parking assist, hill-descent control and hill start assist.
2017 Jeep SRT Hellcat Price
Now comes the part where these two vehicles won’t manage to offer class-leading figures or anything near them for that matter. Fuel economy ratings will easily fall from grace and end up at mid to high teens in mpg combined. Prices are another category which might make potential buyers think about ordering one. Trailhawk and Trackhawk will likely cost between $65,000 and $70,000.
2017 Jeep SRT Hellcat lineup has finally arrived and sales are supposed to begin soon. Trailhawk and Trackhawk Grand Cherokee’s are among their respective class leaders, and while they share the same hallmark powertrain and look alike, they still compete on much different frontlines.
The biggest competitors are: Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG, Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR and Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
