2017 Kia Cadenza – spy photos & changes

While the Cadenza has been released on the US market back in 2013, it has been on the market as the Kia K7 ever since 2010. Because of that, an all new model is expected to be released quite soon and just like before, the new model has actually been previewed by the K7 which has already surfaced in Korea as a concept and it is expected to go on sale quite soon.

Just like with the previous model, the new generation is based on a new platform which borrows a lot of elements from the Optima. However, the suspension system as well as most of the materials are specific to it, so it should be a lot more comfortable and relaxing to drive than its smaller brother.

Refreshed & Sporty Design

Refreshed Exterior

The car’s design has to be the most impressive change over the current model and while the US version of the 2017 Kia Cadenza has not been released just yet, the K7 model gives us a good impression about how the car will look like. The general design scheme is now a bit sharper, it has a longer hood than before, new angular headlights and the usual large grille which has been a common feature on their latest models. Also, the new K7 features Kia’s new four-LED cluster for the fog-lamps which first appeared on the Sportage.

The back is classier than before with a subtle chrome strip which spans across the width of the car while the exhaust now uses rectangular tailpipes for a more upmarket look. While from the profile the car is similar to the older model, the doors are slightly larger than before and the car features a more muscular shape which manages to impress.

New Interior – changes

The interior of the car is still under wraps at this point and it is unlikely that it will surface until the Geneva Auto Show. However, it is safe to assume that the car will offer quite a few luxury features for its class and on top of that, thanks to the new platform it will be based on, there should more space available for the passengers, both in the front and at the back.

The Engine range & Specs

Under the hood, the K7 will offer three different choices for the Korean market while the 2017 Kia Cadenza is expected to hit the market with just one choice which is a bit disappointing but expected in its class. The engine will likely be the same 3.3 liter naturally aspirated V6 as before and not the one found on the new K7 which offers less power and torque but slightly better fuel consumption. The US version of the car is actually going to develop more than before with an expected output of around 300 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque which will be more than enough for a car designed to be quiet, comfortable and really relaxing to drive.

The engine will likely retain its 6 speed automatic gearbox which may not be the fastest out there but thanks to the good job Kia did at tuning it, it managed to offer a good experience behind the wheel. The fuel consumption is likely going to improve slightly to around 26 MPG on average while its performance should remain similar to the ongoing version of the car.
