In 2010, Porsche, the German car manufacturer has announced that they have started with the development or all-electric powertrain and that they plan to unveil in the future a completely electric Porsche. In 2015 they showed the first concept and now the reports have started surfacing about the upcoming all-electric 2017 Porsche Mission E – a mid-size sedan (smaller than other sedan that Porsche has in its line up – Panamera) that has an electric powertrain.
However, the concept that was shown shows us more than just this model – it shows what the future Porsche models will look like.
Upgraded Design – Exterior & Interior
On the outside, the new 2017 Porsche Mission E looks like an elongated Porsche 911, with beautiful curves and straight lines. The German manufacturer decided to use state-of-the-art materials for the body – like aluminum, steel and plastic that was reinforced with carbon fiber. The idea is to keep the new 2017 Porsche Mission E as light as possible, while having a strong body at the same time.
In terms of design, we have already mentioned that the new 2017 Porsche Mission E has a line like the 911, but they also share similar front – the new 2017 Porsche Mission E has similar nose like the iconic Porsche with headlights far apart on the sides.
However, the new Mission E has LED headlights of the latest technology, developed by German manufacturer and that are not used on any other model. Front bumper fits perfectly and it has something that looks like an air intake, which could be used for cooling the brakes. The back of the new 2017 Porsche Mission E looks really simple – it has a big rear bumper with a rear diffuser and above it is the taillights that stretches from one side of the car to another. Below the large taillights is located illuminated Porsche logo.
The interior of the new 2017 Porsche Mission E looks like it was inspired by the one in the current Porsche Panamera, but a lot simpler. The big touch screen display is located in the center console, just like the one in Panamera, but this is not the only display – there are a few more – one wide unit is in the dashboard and the gauge cluster is completely digital. There are going to be lots of new and innovative features, but one of the most interesting are the side mirrors that show camera feed and are not standard mirrors.
Under the Hood & Performance
The German manufacturer has decided to use a pair of electric motors – one at each axle, which means that the new 2017 Porsche Mission E will have all-wheel drive. The official information is that the Mission E produces around 600 horsepower and has a 310 mile range. The German manufacturer claims that the 2017 Porsche Mission E is able to go from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds.
One of the best advantages is a charging. An estimated time for charge (80%) is around 15 minutes, using an upgraded system of 800 Volt. We could expect more details about performance in mid 2016 year.
2017 Porsche Mission E Price
The price of the 2017 Porsche Mission E is not yet known, but it is expected to be over $100,000. On the other hand, some reports say that estimated cost would be more than $140,000. So, stay tuned for news and come back, soon.
The 2017 Porsche Mission E should be unveiled in late 2016.
